Old Farmer’s Almanac 2023 Summer Predictions for Indiana
How hot and miserable will it be this summer in Indiana? The Old Farmer's Almanac's 2023 Summer Predictions are here!
After all of the frigid cold temperatures and snow that we here in Indiana received over winter, many (like myself) have been eagerly awaiting summertime. I'd rather it be hot than cold, but I know many who are not a fan of the heat that we can get here. Now, summer doesn't officially start until June 21, 2023, which is the summer solstice. That being said, many in the United States kick off summertime on Memorial Day weekend (May 27-29 this year). That's typically when a lot of pools and waterparks open up for the season to help you cool off. So, we have a little bit of time until summer officially kicks off. That being said, what can we expect from the summertime weather here in Indiana this year?
Old Farmer's Almanac 2023 Summer Predictions for Indiana
Alright, so how hot and dry will it get here in Indiana this summer? The Old Farmer's Almanac says that thunderstorms will kick off summer in our area, with heavy rains likely June 20th-23rd.
The Old Farmer's Almanac reports the following predictions for southern Indiana's summer:
April will be cooler and drier than normal, while May will be warmer than normal with near-normal precipitation. Summer will be warmer and wetter than normal. The hottest periods will be in late June and mid- to late July. September and October will be warmer than normal, with near-normal precipitation.
As far as the northern half of Indiana, this is what you can expect according to the Old Farmer's Almanac:
April will be cooler than normal, while May will be warmer. Precipitation will be normal. Summer will be warmer than normal. Rainfall will be below normal in the east and near normal in the west. The hottest periods will be in mid-July and early and late August. September and October will be warmer and rainier than normal, on average.
Now look, these are just predictions. We all know how fickle Mother Nature can be in our neck of the woods. It could be hotter and drier than normal, or it could be colder and wetter than we typically see in the summertime. Either way, soak in as much fun this summer while you can because one thing is certain...it will fly by!
