‘Nashville’ Cast Looks Back With Love and Gratitude as Filming Wraps Up
As the final eight episodes of CMT's Nashville draw nearer, the cast of the hit TV show is reaching out to reminisce and reflect on their six years of filming together. Monday (April 9) is the last day of filming for the second half of Nashville's final season, which launches on June 7.
Hayden Panettiere, Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Chris Carmack, Sam Palladio and Lennon and Maisy Stella all used social media to say goodbye. On Instagram, Panettiere -- who plays Juliette Barnes -- admitted that she "cannot believe" shooting for the show is coming to a close.
"I am so grateful to have gotten the chance to be on the show and to play Juliette," she says.
In addition to a personal farewell post on Instagram, Lennon Stella and her sister Maisy (who play Maddie and Daphne Conrad) joined Esten (Deacon Clayborne) for a brief Instagram video from the show's familiar kitchen set. Esten notes that it's "Rayna's kitchen," a nod to former cast member Connie Britton, whose character Rayna Jaymes died during Season 5.
"Having trouble wrapping my brain around this being the last few days of filming. Having trouble wrapping my brain around the 6 years I’ve been on this show," Lennon Stella writes in her own post. "Man, this is going to feel strange."
Palladio, who plays Gunnar Scott, meanwhile, posted that he's excited to share his character's final song with audiences. And Bowen (Scarlett O'Conner) shares a hug with Cameron Scoggins (Zach Welles, a recent addition to Nashville's cast of characters) in an Instagram post of her own. The shot was taken while filming their final scene together.
Palladio also appeares in a post on Carmack's Instagram feed: a photo of the pair taken outside Gunnar Scott's house.
"I had my last proper Nashville scene with my buddy @sampalladio tonight😢 ... and said goodbye to Gunnar’s house ... so many sweet memories," Carmack writes.
Nashville, which premiered in 2012, follows the personal and professional lives of several musicians as they both fade from and emerge onto a fictionalized version of the country music scene in Music City. After being canceled by ABC, its original network, after Season 4, the show found a new home on CMT beginning with Season 5. Show creators announced in the fall of 2017 that Nashville would come to an end after Season 6.
The cast of Nashville is capping off the last run of episodes with a series of concerts. Show dates included a visit to the Grand Ole Opry on March 25 and a handful of shows overseas in April.
