If you want to crack open a craft beer in the Hoosier State, this brewery is getting a ton of buzz online.

Craft Brews

Over the past two decades, it seems that craft beer has skyrocketed in popularity.  So what exactly is craft beer? According to CraftBeer.com, defining craft beer is subjective to personal taste and experience, but the Brewers Association defines craft beer as:

anAmerican craft brewer as a small, independent brewer. The craft brewer definition allows the organization to provide statistics on the growing craft brewery segment, which currently makes up 98% of all breweries in the U.S.

So basically, they define craft beer as beer that is brewed by a small, independent brewer.

Why Are Breweries So Popular?

I can't speak for everyone, but I can speak from personal experience, as my husband and I have been to many breweries over the years.  We have always enjoyed breweries, because they're (usually) locally owned and they typically have a laid-back atmosphere.   It's a good place to sit and talk while trying some new brews.  I'm not normally a beer fan, but I've actually found a few beers that I enjoy by trying flights at different breweries.

Here at Upland, our brewers are always experimenting, putting their own spin on traditional brewing recipes with unique local ingredients.
Our beers—from wood-aged sour ales to traditional ales and lagers—are as complex, interesting and approachable as the people who make and enjoy them.
