Don't get me started on Beauty Pageants. I truly believe they serve no useful purpose whatsoever and actually send the wrong message to young girls. Beauty pageants are the essence of superficial and mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. Granted, these women are beautiful, but it pretty much stops there and over the weekend, Miss Utah, Marissa Powell gave an answer at the Miss USA Pageant to a question that really brought the credibility of these pageants into question. Powell was asked the following question. "A recent report shows that in 40% of American families with children, women are the primary earners, yet they continue to earn less than men. What does that say about society?"

Powell gave an answer that was utterly and completely the most incoherent answer ever, as you can see in the below video.

I know these girls are under pressure, but they know what is coming and what is expected of them. There is no excuse for being so clueless, which is one the biggest problems with these pageants. Again what purpose do these things serve? Powell's answer was a big black eye for at least the Miss USA Pageant, if not all beauty pageants.

The only other answer that even comes close to being as bad as this one was Miss Teen South Carolina in 2007. You can see that one below as well.
