An Exciting Evansville Development

What started as a dream for many in the local skating and biking community in Evansville, is now officially a reality. Over the last couple of years, there have been many fundraisers and even grants that have led to the largest concrete skatepark in Indiana. Sunset Skatepark has been in development along the downtown Evansville riverfront for the past year, and it's officially open to the public.

Where is Sunset Skatepark?

If you want to visit Sunset Skatepark, it's free to do so and very easy to find. The skatepark is an outdoor concrete skatepark located in downtown Evansville on the riverfront. It's a scenic setting for the community to enjoy whether you enjoy skating or not. It's been really neat to see the community's response to the skatepark, and when I've driven by it a few times, it's been full of people of all ages.

Sunset Skatepark is open daily from dawn until 11 PM.

Benefits of a Local Skatepark

If you don't skate you may wonder why a skatepark is such a big deal for the community, but there are so many benefits to having a free community space like this for the public to utilize.

In regards to skateparks specifically, there are a lot of benefits, including a safe area for kids (and all members of the community) to partake in physical activity, and there is a positive social aspect to skateparks as well. SkatePark.org has many great resources if you want to learn more about the many benefits of skate parks, but I'll leave you with this:
