Drivers like myself who travel Veteran's Memorial Parkway (a.k.a. I-69) to get into and out of downtown Evansville will need to allow themselves a little extra time to get where they need to go when leaving the riverfront beginning Monday (October 22nd, 2018) as the contractor responsible for "rehabilitation work" on the sewer system in the area will have crews back in the area.

According to a statement by officials with the Evansville Water and Sewer Utility, "The overall work will impact approximately a 0.50-mile section of Veterans Memorial Parkway beginning immediately southeast of the Waterworks Road intersection, with the restrictions mainly concentrated in the eastbound lanes." The statement went on to say traffic heading "will be restricted with closures in defined phases affecting the shoulder, lanes, and center median but will maintain one travel lane through the active work zone at all times." The work is expected to last approximately six weeks, weather permitting.
