Directed by Will Renner and Jessica Martinez, both film students at Nashville’s Belmont University, Chesney's "All the Pretty Girls" video is the winning entry in a contest that the country star launched to find an up-and-coming creator to helm the clip for his latest hit. Shot over two days in Virginia, the music video follows a group of young women out on an adventure ... and in need of a little cash. When they run into a group of guys at a convenience store and ask to borrow some money from them, the two sets of friends make friends with each other; together, they hit up a house party, head to a bonfire and go on a hike. Of course, from there, summer love springs forth.
“We thought the first day [of filming] was only going to be five hours,” says Martinez in a press release. “But when we got started, we found some more creative things to do. We ended up shooting for 10 hours, with an hour for lunch.
"Our vision was to capture the essence of a summer fling -- just the feeling of freedom and having fun, not taking things too seriously," she adds. "Because Will is from Virginia, he was able to get people he knows from high school [to be part of it], which made it really fun to shoot.”
After seeing Martinez and Renner's "All the Pretty Girls" video, Chesney was impressed by the work of these two creative college students: “They understood how to build a storyline and narrative, and they bring a fresh eye to these moments,” the singer notes.
“[The video]’s really sweet, and just what this kind of song needed," Chesney continues. "I’m as thrilled to be part of Jessica’s college education as I am to have her -- and Will’s -- creativity be a part of this song.”
"All the Pretty Girls" was written by Nicolle Galyon, Tommy Lee James and Josh Osborne.
