New Japanese Grocery and Gift Shop to Open in Evansville’s East Side This Fall
There is a new business headed to Evansville's east side and it will be home to a Japanese grocery and gift shop.
An Officially Official Facebook Post
I was scrolling through my social media earlier today when I came across a post shared by a friend. It caught my attention because the post started with the words "It's officially, official!" The declaration of anything being officially official is always cause for pause, and that is exactly what I did. That's when I learned that there is a new business headed to the east side of Evansville, Indiana.
New Business From A Seasoned Business Owner
The original Facebook post sharing the officially, official news was made by Kayleigh Iwamoto. Kayleigh is no stranger to running a small business in Evansville. She is the owner of Kiwi's Garden Center located at 100 North First Avenue where you can find all kinds of plants for inside and outside the home (or office), as well as fun gifts including flower pots, garden statues, crystals and stones, and loose leaf teas too.
Evansville's New Japanese Grocery Store
According to the news that Kayleigh shared on Facebook, once she makes it through the spring season at Kiwi's she will be shifting her focus on stocking the shelves at Evansville's newest Japanese grocery and gift shop.
Once I get through Spring at the Garden Center I will be able to shift focus on developing & curating the store with all the great foods, snacks, drink, gifts and more that you love from Japan! - Kayleigh Iwamoto
Kitsune Mart - Japanese Grocery & Gift Shop
The new business, according to the Facebook post will be called Kitsune Mart - Japanese Grocery & Gift Shop. In Japanese, Kitsune is the word used to describe, "trickster foxes" in traditional folklore. They are said to possess supernatural abilities, like shape-shifting, according to Encyclopedia Britannica.
Kitsune are noted for their paranormal abilities, particularly metamorphosis. As they age, these abilities can become more powerful. Kitsune are said to live for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. They are popular in many facets of Japanese culture and are regularly depicted in visual art, in text, and at religious shrines. - Encylopedia Britannica
