Temporary EVPL Red Bank Express Library Opens on Evansville’s Westside

The EVPL Red Bank Express is officially open, bringing library services back to the west side while the brand-new Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library Red Bank location is being rebuilt.

The temporary location is at 4905 University Drive, right next to the former Red Bank branch, in the former Liberty Federal Credit Union building.

The Red Bank location closed back in December 2025 for what is, essentially, a complete demolition and rebuild. As you can imagine, that kind of project takes a long time, but luckily, Westside residents now have a temporary library to use in the meantime. What You Can Expect At EVPL Red Bank Express

• A curated portion of the former Red Bank collection, with titles for kids, teens, and adults
• Public computer access
• Print, copy, fax, and scan services
• A drive-thru material return
• EVPL To Go services
• Easy pick-up for items requested from other EVPL locations

What Is Not Available At The Temporary Location

The EVPL Red Bank Express won’t offer meeting or study spaces, and regular Red Bank programs will be hosted at other EVPL locations or offsite for now.

• Monday – Thursday: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
• Friday: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
• Saturday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The reopening of services in this temporary space is a big step forward as plans continue for the full Red Bank rebuild. The project is scheduled to go out for public bid in June, and updates will be shared through EVPL’s website, social media channels, and newsletters.
