New KY Film Production Company Planning Upwards of Eight Releases
Don't look now, but Hollywood: the Bluegrass Edition is at it again, and I, for one, couldn't be happier.
Kentucky enjoyed a mad wave of movie shoots from the spring of 2022 all the way up through the spring of 2023. The Orlando Bloom movie, Red Right Hand, was followed months later by Ethan Hawke filming Wildcat. And then there were the Lifetime crews setting up shop in Somerset to knock out some Christmas movies.
And then...the dual strikes.
New Movie to Be Shot in Paducah KY
That's when everything slowed to a crawl if it didn't shut down outright. But it looks like we're back and ready for action. This time? It's Paducah that will almost quite literally be in the spotlight. And what a beautiful town in which to shoot a movie.
New Kentucky-Based Production Company Planning Six to Eight Releases
So what's turning the largest city in the Purchase into the Commonwealth's version of Tinseltown? Well, it's Commonwealth Creative Entertainment, a new company that aims to produce six to eight films in western Kentucky.
We’re a full-service film and television development, production, post-production, and distribution company headquartered in beautiful Paducah, Kentucky — a UNESCO Creative City that’s becoming one of America’s most exciting arts hubs. We’ve got more than 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry producing narrative, documentary, commercial, and branded content, and are fully equipped with expert crews and the latest camera, grip, and lighting to handle whatever your project calls for.
The first, Kaitlyn's Chance--which will go into production in the second quarter of 2024--involves horses. So CCE called upon a local Paducah charity called Cassidy's Cause which offers therapeutic horseback riding for individuals with disabilities.
A statement released by Commonwealth Creative Entertainment indicates the first three films will be released in quick succession. That's pretty exciting news and will only entice more filmmakers to explore Kentucky and all its beauty and atmosphere as possible shooting locations.
