It's July, and I just got the alert that we're under a heat warning. But that won't stop me from thinking about Summerween! We're only a few months away from Halloween, and folks who love spooky season are already planning their fall bucket lists.
Jack O'Lantern Spectacular Has a New Home
If you live within driving distance of Louisville, there's a good chance you've at least heard of the Jack O'Lantern Spectacular. Visitors walk a trail filled with more than 5,000 hand-carved pumpkins, all benefiting Parks Alliance of Louisville. By supporting this event, visitors help fund the continued maintenance, enhancement, and conservation of Louisville's public parks and community green spaces. I had always wanted to go, but everyone told me to expect long waits to get in and crazy parking lines.
Where is the Louisville Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular Moving To?
New for 2026, the Jack O'Lantern Spectacular is moving to Kentucky Kingdom. Organizers hope the new location will make the experience more enjoyable while solving many of the issues guests experienced in the past.
What to Expect This Year
In addition to more than 5,000 pumpkins carved by local artists and sculptors, guests can expect an all-new experience with rides and attractions after dark, shorter wait times, convenient on-site parking just steps from the entrance, and one ticket that includes it all.
The event will also feature larger-than-life pumpkin sculptures, trick-or-treat stations with free candy, a hay maze, festive fall photo opportunities, seasonal food, and live entertainment. It sounds like they're taking everything people loved about the original event and making it even bigger.
"This partnership brings together two traditions that have become part of fall in Louisville," said Kentucky Kingdom Director of Sales and Marketing Carly Uglow. "We're excited to preserve the legacy of Jack O'Lantern Spectacular while introducing it to our guests in a whole new way alongside the rides, attractions, and family experiences that make Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom so special."
Dates and Ticket Information
Jack O'Lantern Spectacular and Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom will run Wednesdays through Sundays from October 1 through November 1.
Tickets are on sale now starting at $19.99. Guests with a 2026 Kentucky Kingdom Season Pass will receive free admission to the event. If you want to enjoy the rest of the summer season and get free access to Jack O'Lantern Spectacular this fall, 2026 Season Passes are available now starting at $99.99.
