Have you ever seen a sign for a DG Market and wondered how it differs from a normal Dollar General store? Rockford, Illinois shoppers can now find out first-hand.

Why Are There So Many Dollar General Stores?

Do you find it strange that every small town or village throughout Illinois and beyond seems to have its own Dollar General store? Have you ever wondered how these stores stay open with such a small customer base to service? Well, I'm here to tell you it's all about convenience!

A Dollar General opened in the small village I live in about 2 years ago, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't pop in this store at least once a week.

When you live at least 20 minutes from a Target or Walmart and you discover you need toilet paper, dog food, children's Tylenol and hairspray ASAP...its Dollar General to the rescue! (and they have saved my behind more than a time or two).

As a seasoned Dollar General shopper there's only two major things I wish my local store carried; skim milk and shredded lettuce, but Rockford shoppers won't have to worry about that anymore thanks to the opening of the city's first DG Market.

Difference Between a DG Market and a Dollar General

If you're all about going to what I call "quick trip" stores, you may just fall in love with DG Market. These stores offer fresh meats, produce, and other grocery staples that many normal Dollar General stores don't carry.

Here's a glimpse of one that recently opened in a different another Illinois town...

DG Markets are all about providing fresh, healthy foods at convenient locations with low everyday prices. While I don't think these markets can replace or compare regular grocery stores, they might be nice option for when you're in a pinch. Are you ready to check it out for yourself?

Rockford's first DG Market just opened at 4775 Linden Road and is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
