Help Clean Up the Ohio Riverfront at Newburgh’s River Sweep
If you're looking for an excuse to spend a fall morning outside doing something good for the community, the Town of Newburgh could use a few extra hands.
The Town of Newburgh River Sweep 2026 is happening Saturday, October 3, bringing volunteers together for a morning of cleaning up the community's beautiful stretch of the Ohio Riverfront.
And you don't need any special equipment or experience to help.

Newburgh River Sweep Is Open to All Ages
The cleanup will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at the Old Lock and Dam Park located at 525 State Road 662 in Newburgh.
Volunteers will work together to collect trash and debris along the riverfront, with gloves and trash bags provided.
Participants can also snag a free souvenir ORSANCO River Sweep T-shirt while supplies last.
The event is open to volunteers of all ages, making it an easy opportunity for families to spend a morning together while giving back. Students, businesses, organizations, and other community groups are also encouraged to participate.
What to Bring to the River Sweep
Since you'll be spending the morning outdoors, the Town of Newburgh recommends dressing appropriately for the weather, wearing sunscreen, and bringing a reusable water bottle.
Mostly, though, you just need to show up ready to help.
The Ohio Riverfront is one of the things that makes Newburgh such a beautiful place to visit, walk, bike, and spend time outside. A few hours spent cleaning it up is a pretty great way to enjoy some fresh fall air while helping keep it that way.
If you're interested in helping and have questions or would like to get an advance copy of the participation waiver, you can contact Julie Lee at jlee@newburgh-in.gov.
