It Takes a Village Desperately Needs Fosters in Evansville Right Now

If you've ever considered fostering a dog or cat but haven't taken the leap, It Takes a Village No-Kill Rescue needs you right now.

The Southern Indiana animal rescue has issued an urgent call for foster and adoptive homes after announcing that its relationship with the Spencer County Board of Commissioners is ending effective immediately.

It Takes a Village says there will be more information about the changes and what comes next at a later date.

Right now, its focus is on the animals.

ITV Plans to Bring Every Animal to Evansville

According to the rescue, every dog and cat currently in its care at the Spencer County location will remain an ITV animal.

The organization plans to move all of those animals to its Evansville Rescue Center at 1417 N. Stockwell Road.

There's just one major problem.

The Evansville facility is already caring for animals that need homes, and ITV needs to create space before even more animals arrive.

That's where foster families come in.

Even One Foster Home Can Make a Difference

It Takes a Village is asking anyone who can temporarily open their home to an animal to visit the Evansville Rescue Center now through Saturday and choose an animal to foster.

As the rescue explained in its plea, one animal going into foster care means one kennel opens at the shelter. That open kennel then becomes a safe place for another animal making its way from Spencer County.

Whether you have room on the couch for a dog or a spare room where a cat can temporarily settle in, fostering could help ITV make room during the transition.

Of course, adoptions can help create space, too.
