14 Years Ago Indiana University Student Lauren Spierer Went Missing
The Case of Missing IU Student, Lauren Spierer
I feel like many people have one news story that sticks with them, and for me, it has been the disappearance of Lauren Spierer. Lauren and I are the same age, so when she went missing, I was also a 20-year-old college student, so her case hit close to home (even though we went to different colleges). I remember after her disappearance made the news, I was glued to the evening news for weeks, just hoping to see a positive update.
I still follow the Official Lauren Spierer Facebook Page, and I always hope that one day I'll see her family can finally have some kind of peace. Unfortunately, that still hasn't happened, and it's been 14 years.
Lauren Spierer Missing Information
On June 3rd, 2011 20-year-old Lauren Spierer went missing. She was last seen wearing a white shirt and black pants at 11th Street and College Avenue in Bloomington. The area where she was last seen is a popular area and a commonly traveled path for IU students.
According to the Find Lauren website, Lauren is 4'11", 95lbs, has blonde hair, and blue eyes.
14 Years Later, the Search for Lauren Spierer Continues
Lauren's family still runs and updates the Official Lauren Spierer Updates from Her Family Facebook page. The latest update came on June 3rd, 2025, which marks 14 years since Lauren disappeared.
The update came from Lauren's mom, who still holds onto hope that one day they will have answers.
June 3….today marks 14 years since Lauren’s disappearance.Even as this year marks the day, I am anticipating next year, the 15th year. That’s how quickly these days pass, one folding into the next, one year folding into the next. It has been a very long 14 years. At times unbearable, at other times hopeful. Never any resolution.
The not knowing what happened on June 3, the not knowing where Lauren’s remains are, the lack of any kind of closure is devastating, exhausting, endless. What you don’t know can devastate youEvery year on this day I consider whether I should even post anything. It seems so futile. Sharing my thoughts is really about me and my longing for the truth, answers and more importantly, as a reminder to those responsible that we will never forget. I can only try.My thanks to all who continue to remember Lauren, and to those who have shown us unbelievable kindness.I hope with all my heart the day will come when the not knowing comes to an end and we can give Lauren the peace she deserves. To our dear Lauren, in our hearts always.
