If you're looking for a new furry member to add to your family, or you living the single life and you need a new best friend because you're over people, let me introduce you to our Pet of the Week from the Vanderburgh Humane Society. Meet Bindi.

Bindi's Story

Bindi is a 5-year-old pup the VHS describes as, "part terrier, part fish" because her perfect day consists of splashing around the pool and getting in some good back scratches on the turf afterward.

She can be a little shy at first, but once she's warmed up to you, she loves to show off her squeaky toys. She's already crate-trained and house-trained, and does well with other pets. The VHS believes she would thrive in a quiet and consistent living situation.

Her adoption fee is $150 which covers the cost of her spay, her microchip, and her up-to-date vaccinations. All of which would add up to WAY more than $150 if you paid for each of them individually.

If you'd like to get a jump on the adoption process for Bindi, or any of the animals the VHS offers that you might be interested in, you can fill out some of the paperwork in advance on the VHS website.

LOOK: Here Are 30 Foods That Are Poisonous to Dogs

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
