Indiana’s Coolest Hidden Gem: Dozens of Sculptures Are Hidden Within These Woods
This hidden gem, just might be the coolest in the entire state.
Hidden Gems
When talking about "hidden gems" you may wonder what exactly makes something a hidden gem. To me, it's a place that isn't super well known but has a quality about it that deserves recognition. The Free Dictionary lists the definition for hidden gem as:
That which is of exceptional or underappreciated quality but
is not especially popular or widely known.
Some of my favorite places to eat are hidden gems, and so are some of my favorite places to shop. One thing I love to do when visiting another city is to ask the locals what their favorite local hidden gem is. I've discovered some cool places that were off the beaten path, that I otherwise wouldn't have experienced thanks to asking this question. There are all kinds of hidden gems, but one in Indiana stuck out because it's very unique!
Indiana's Hidden Gem: Sculpture Trails
With winter's end in sight, many of us have a serious case of cabin fever, so if you're like me and trying to plan some fun things to do outside, you'll want to add Sculpture Trails to your list! And the best part? It's not too far from the tri-state, it's about an hour and 40 minutes from Evansville! It's southeast of Indianapolis in Solsberry.
Sculpture Trails might just be the most unique experience I've heard of in the Hoosier State. It's actually an outdoor museum located in the middle of the woods. Pretty cool, right?
Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum is located deep in the woods amongst the rolling hills of Solsberry, Indiana. The museum's mission is to bring outdoor sculpture and art education to the community through various hands-on sculpture workshops, services, and programs.
You Can See More Than 100 Sculptures
Not only is this a unique outdoor museum that winds you along trails through the woods, Sculpture Trails is home to more than 180 large-scale sculptures, created by artists from all over the world.
Workshops and Events Too
Not only can you enjoy a relaxing self-guided tour throughout the woods, they also have guided tours, and even workshops where you can learn about all different kinds of metal artwork. They have a cast iron skillet workshop, a blacksmith workshop, and a tour and pour event. The tour and pour takes you on a tour throughout Sculpture Trails and you get to cast your own metal artwork. You can learn more about Sculpture Trails by checking out their website, I can guarantee this is the most unique hidden gem in the Hoosier State!
