Southern Indiana Shelter Hopes to Find Their Longest Resident a Home in Time for Christmas
After spending nearly a third of his life in the shelter, one pup is hoping to be home for the holidays.
Pike Animal Welfare Shelter
Pike Animal Welfare Shelter (or PAWS) is a non-profit animal shelter in Petersburg, Indiana. PAWS currently houses many homeless animals, and works to get them into loving homes. One resident, however, has a special place in the heart of one PAWS board member and she has made a plea to get Boss into a home in time for Christmas.
Meet Boss
Boss is a tough name, but don't let his name fool you. Boss is a very playful and loving boy, who loves toys, and loves people. Boss is also the longest resident at PAWS, having been at the shelter for just shy of a year.
I received a message on the WKDQ Facebook page from Ashlee Willis, who is a board member at PAWS and all she wants for Christmas is to see Boss find his forever home. Boss' only pitfall is he doesn't get along well with male dogs, so he would do best in a home as the only dog, or with a female dog. Besides that, he's a very good boy.
Boss is around 3 years old, and after nearly a year in the shelter, he's spent about a third of his life without a home, so maybe by sharing Boss' story we can help him find a home in time for the holidays. Ashlee had this to say about Boss:
I listen to you daily. I know how influential your station is. I am a nurse. But my passion is also animal rescue. I am a very active volunteer and board member at Pike Animal Welfare Shelter in Petersburg, IN. I have been working very hard to get our longest resident a great home. He came from a terrible situation and has been in the shelter almost 1 year Boss is a sweet dog. He is very playful. He loves his toys! He loves people. He likes female dogs. He just does not get along with male dogs. My Christmas wish was to find him a home but that is looking doubtful. I have promised to get him a happily ever after. Can you help??
Of course, after seeing how cute Boss is, and hearing his story, I had to help! If you'd like to meet Boss or learn more, you can reach out to PAWS through their Facebook page, here.
