Hot air balloons will soon descend upon the Hoosier state, for a balloon festival you won't want to miss.

Hot Air Balloons

There's something kind of whimsical about seeing a hot air balloon in the sky, and these days we don't seem to see them very often.  Hot air balloons have been around since the 1700s and work on the heat-rising principle. Virgin Balloon Flights explains:

A hot air balloon is a unique flying craft which works because hot air rises. There are two main types of hot air balloon. Both were developed in the late 18th century and are still used today.

In September you can see hot air balloons, fireworks, and pyrotechnic skydivers at this massive balloon festival!

Kiwanis Indiana Balloon Fest

The Kiwanis Indiana Balloon Fest is an annual festival that takes place annually in Bedford.  This multi-day festival will happen from September 27th and 28th.

On Friday September 27th you can expect to see everything from food and other vendors, a beer and wine garden, trackless train rides, robotics team demonstrations, pyrotechnic skydivers (yes, that's a thing), and then at 7:30 the balloon glow will begin with tethered balloon rides and more!

On Saturday, September 28th the gates open at 7 AM and the balloons will take to the sky at 8 AM. There will also be kite flying, a marionette puppet show, amusement rides, a beer and wine garden, a trackless train ride, live music, fireworks, and the balloon glow where hot air balloons will light up the night sky.

This is just a quick overview and not even close to the full schedule of events because both days are jam-packed. You can see the full schedule of events for the Kiwanis Indiana Balloon Fest, here.
