Indiana State Museum to Host Adult Only Summer Camp
The Indiana State Museum's new adult summer camp will allow folks to enjoy delicious food, cocktails, camp activities, and more.
There are many times in my adult life that I miss being a kid. For one, the 90-degree summer heat didn't feel near as warm as it does now. I cannot even fathom how I used to run around in it with my friends and siblings. Along with that, I also miss all the fun activities and the carefree atmosphere. If you do as well, the Indiana State Museum is launching a new summer camp just for adults, and it looks like it's going to be a really fun time.
The Indiana State Museum is located at 650 W. Washington St. in downtown Indianapolis and includes exhibits on the science, art, culture, and history of Indiana. On July 12, 2024, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the museum will play host to an adults-only summer camp for those 21 and older that will feature camp-inspired foods and activities, along with an assortment of alcoholic beverages. One such activity is "bubble bowling," which is like regular bowling, except in this case, YOU are the ball. I have a feeling this game gets more interesting when accompanied by booze.
Some of the other main outdoor events include archery, axe throwing, and even an obstacle course. For those who need a break from the heat, visitors can head inside to make summer crafts to take home, including tie-dyed bandannas and friendship bracelets. Additionally, the museum’s galleries will be open for guided after-hours tours, including the new Good Night Forest, which details Indiana’s nocturnal animals. Here is what the museum says guests can expect from this new exhibit:
Visitors will be surrounded by colorful critters hand-drawn by local artist Penelope Dullaghan along with fascinating specimens from the museum’s biological collection, including a coyote, fox, small mammals, owls, insects, amphibians and more. You’ll find yourself in an intriguing and playful atmosphere that’s made for exploration!
To top off the night, adult summer camp attendees can indulge in s’mores, as well as other camp foods and refreshing beverages. Tickets will include admission to the museum, one free drink ticket, snacks, and all the activities. It's safe to say this will be one fun night of nostalgia. If you're interested, you can register for the camp here.
