The mystery is over. After weeks of fan speculation and hints from the park, including admitting its new attraction would be a roller coaster, officials with Holiday World & Splashin' Safari revealed all the details of the new ride scheduled to be completed in time for the start of the 2024 season.

Holiday World Teases New Roller Coaster Coming in 2024

Rumors of a new coaster began making their way around the internet back in late June after the YouTube channel, Coaster Focus revealed the park had received shipments from a company that builds what are known as "Boomerang Coasters." Instead of a loop like a traditional coaster that begins and ends at the same place, the track of a boomerang coaster ends at the top of a steep hill. The coaster train then zips its way backward over the track until it returns to the starting point.

Evansville-based Facebook page, Evansville 411 News added to the speculation by confirming the shipments and revealing the park had submitted paperwork with the state for the construction of a project titled, "Gravy Boat."

Officials with the park initially stayed quiet, choosing only to say they were impressed with the "internet sleuths" but weren't ready to "spill the gravy" just yet. That changed on July 6th when they shared a picture on their Facebook page of construction getting started in the space formerly occupied by the Pilgrim's Plunge in the Thanksgiving section of the park. The post included a link to a blog written by Director of Communications, Leah Koch-Blumhardt on the park's website where she announced a new coaster was coming, but did not go as far as to say it would officially be called, "Gravy Boat."

Just over a week later in another social media post, the park announced it would spill all the gravy on the new ride on August 1st (today). That was followed by another tease on July 27th showing a hand holding a red, yellow, and blue boomerang, and the announcement the park would be selling them in the gift shop beginning on August 1st.

The park also sent packages to local media outlets featuring a whisk, an egg timer designed to look like a chicken, a packet of turkey gravy mix, and a note encouraging everyone to tune into their social media channels at 8:00 AM Central Time on August 1st for the big reveal.

Holiday World Announces Plans for the Good Gravy! Family Coaster

The announcement took place as scheduled where it was revealed the new ride will be called "Good Gravy! Family Coaster" and will be a "family boomerang" coaster, the first of its kind in North America.

The park also released an animated point-of-view video to give you a better idea of what the ride will be like.

All I can say is, this ride looks like it will be awesome and I can't wait for the start of the 2024 season to get here so I can ride it.
