Willard Library

Willard Library is truly a historic gem in Evansville.  In fact, did you know that Willard Library is the oldest operating library in the state of Indiana?  It's true! Willard Library opened its doors over a century ago, in 1885.  When you visit Willard Library the very first thing you will notice is the stunning gothic architecture that makes this historical building hauntingly beautiful.  Willard Library is also home to the most notorious ghost in the region, the Grey Lady!

Eat, Drink, and Be Scary

Every year Willard Library hosts spooky events leading up to Halloween, and this year is no different.  Willard Library is not only bringing back the Grey Lady Ghost Tours, but also the annual Eat, Drink, and Be Scary event complete with a spooky movie showing on the lawn of Willard Library.

The event is for all ages and will include trick-or-treating inside the library, food trucks, activities for kids, adult beverages for parents, and a screening of Ghostbusters!

The festivities kick off at 4:00 PM with a Trick-or-Treating tour inside historic Willard Public Library. Little goblins and ghouls of all ages can explore each department, collecting goodies along the way. At 5:00 PM, visitors are in for a treat as local food trucks Stuft, Hot Diggity Dog and Sugar Momma’s roll in to serve up mouthwatering culinary delights that will satisfy even the heartiest of appetites. For adults, Haynie's Corner Brewing Co. will be serving ice-cold beverages starting at 6:00 PM. Meanwhile, children can enjoy an array of games and activities in Willard Park while registering for the costume contest. As the sun sets at 6:45 PM, guests can prepare to be thrilled as we screen the timeless classic, "Ghostbusters" (1984), on the big screen in Willard Park. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets to gather with friends and family to relive the iconic ghost-hunting adventures!

Eat, Drink, and Be Scary will take place on Friday October 13th, and festivities start at 4:00! The event is free and open to the public!

Hauntingly Beautiful Photoshoot Inspired by Evansville's Grey Lady

Evansville's most notorious ghost is no doubt the Grey Lady. The Grey Lady is said to roam the halls of Willard Library, and stir up a little mischief every now and then. Hayden Burns Photography was so inspired by the Grey Lady, that she created a photoshoot completely inspired by her. Check out her stunning ghostly images below!
