Kentucky became a state on this day in 1792, making it the first state to be West of the Appalachian Mountains. Although Kentucky started out as primarily an agricultural state, it has grown into SO much more.

Kentucky is now one of the counties leading coal producers, houses two military bases: Fort Knox and Fort Campbell, holds the legendary Kentucky Derby horse race and is proudly the home of Bluegrass music. Kentucky definitely has quite a bit to be proud of!!
