I was texting with my best friend Katie this morning when I found out some sad news. Pastor Ted Christman passed away Monday. Like so many others Pastor Ted touched my life when I was in high school. I'd come to school early each week for his Christian outreach extra curricular meetings. I can't remember what the meetings were called but I vividly remember that a chocolate donut sat waiting on my desk for me every single week after I told him once how much I enjoyed them. He was a sweet and genuine man. And though after high school I moved away and only saw him once after that, his passion for Jesus and heart-felt teachings have stuck with me all these years.

And I know he touched the lives of so many others. His obituary reads,

Pastor Ted had an electric personality. So many apt descriptions could characterize his life. He was a genuine worshiper, rigorous scholar, spiritual father and grandfather, encourager, counselor, possessor of an evangelistic heart, caring shepherd, approachable, influencer, healer of fractured relationships. An inveterate practical joker, his life was filled with humor. PT had a vibrant relationship with Christ, one which allowed him to share it with others in edifying and sometimes hilarious ways. His heart was committed to those on the fringe, never missing a moment to uplift and share his faith in Christ.

Yep, that was Pastor Ted.

Though I'm sure all his friends and family who still reside on earth will miss him dearly, I have no doubt in my mind he's hanging out with Jesus right this minute. And is handing out donuts to all the angels with that great big smile on his face.

The funeral service for Pastor Ted will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Owensboro Christian Church. Visitation for Pastor Christman will be from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Heritage Baptist Church and from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Owensboro Christian Church. A private service of committal and burial will be in the Bethabara Baptist Church Cemetery. **Update: After reading this, my friend Katie reminded me that his high school ministry was called Christian Student Union. :)
