In an effort to get young people more active in the community, the Evansville YMCA is inviting the public to join them in a clean up of Garvin Park on the city's north side as part of the Global Youth Service Day initiative.

Established in 1988, Global Youth Service Day was created by Youth Service America as a call to action for young people around the world to become more involved in the communities they call home. Since it's inception, it has become the largest service event in the world.

Saturday's clean up at Garvin Park begins at 10 a.m. with a park-wide clean up until 11:30, followed by lunch until Noon, and concluding with an hour of free time until 1 p.m. so those participating can unwind and enjoy the newly cleaned park.

The clean up is open to Evansville youth of all ages and their families. If you and your family are interested in participating, simply show up Saturday morning!
