Southern Indiana Humane Society Goes Viral With a Magical Appearing Puppy
The Vanderburgh Humane Society in Evansville has racked up more than 3 million views, thanks to one pup who seemingly appears out of thin air!
The Vanderburgh Humane Society
When you think of a humane society, you typically think of a place that houses pets until they can find their forever homes, which is a big part of what they do, but that's not all. The Vanderburgh Humane Society (VHS) works to help both pets and pet owners in our community.

They serve more than 11,000 animals annually through sheltering, spaying/neutering and other wellness services, emergency food assistance, and other services and programs. They even have a low-cost spay and neuter clinic that opened in 2007 and has since performed more than 110,000 surgeries (that's a whole lot of unwanted litters prevented)! Every week, VHS CEO Kendall Paul stops by the WKDQ studio to share their Pet of the Week. The VHS is also known for, well, going viral on the internet.
Adoptable Animals and Going Viral
The VHS is no stranger to going viral online. You may have heard of Thicken Nugget, the fat cat that the internet went bananas over because of his adorable journey to weight loss. Or maybe you have seen the used car salesman parody commercial that took off on Tik Tok, and garnered more than 500,000 views and more than 1,000,000 likes. But that doesn't hold a candle to their most recent viral success, thanks to an adorable materializing puppy (and, honestly, Kendall's incredible acting chops).

More Than 3 Million Views & Happy Accident Magic Trick
The VHS has found itself enjoying some viral success once again, thanks to a 22-second video. In the video, you see VHS CEO Kendall Paul get a bit snippy after a hand pushes her. In the video she says "touch me again, and you're going to find out exactly who I am." You see the hand push Kendall again, and she immediately turns around with a puppy in her hand and a completely different demeanor, introducing herself as the CEO of the VHS (my favorite comment is someone who said "she went from Karen to CARING very quick").
The thing is, no one can figure out where the heck the puppy came from! Watch it and see if you can figure it out, and I'll reveal Kendall's secret below!

How Did She Make a Puppy Appear Out of Thin Air?
The comments on the video are hilarious, and most of them have to do with the fact that people can't figure out where the puppy came from! The comments range from asking how they edited the transition to accusing Kendall of witchcraft. So I asked Kendall herself , and the real answer? It was a happy accident!
Kendall says a worker at the VHS was standing to the side holding the puppy to hand to Kendall, and when they were filming it they weren't even intending on hiding the fact that the puppy handler (hi Amanda!) wasn't even in the shot. They shot the video in one take, and Kendall said it wasn't until later when they watched the footage that they realized the accidental magic trick they pulled off.
If the video gave you a laugh and you'd like to support the VHS, you can make a donation to the work they do, here.
