Evansville Student Proves That Cops Connecting With Kids Disney Adventure Really Is Life-Changing
Evansville Police Officers first met David Montero in 2017 when he was in the 7th Grade at McGary Middle School. He was chosen to go to Walt Disney World with the Cops Connecting With Kids Disney Adventure program. Little did he know how much that trip would shape his future.
Fateful Trip - Lifelong Mentors
Evansville Police Chief Bolin Bolin was David’s Chaperone on that trip and he has continued to mentor him since. His Principal Dale Naylor selected David as the Student of the Year when he graduated 8th Grade at McGary.
Mr. Naylor is also a Reserve Deputy in Warrick County and he has also continued to mentor David along with Evansville Police Assistant Chief Philip Smith, Sgt Anna Gray, Officer Taylor Merriss, and retired Sergeant Jason Cullum.
This week, David won the very prestigious Youth Resources of Southwestern Indiana, Youth of the Year Award. But he isn't stopping there. David is hopeful to have a career in law enforcement after he graduates from Harrison High School this year.
