Confessions of a Book Lover Who Didn't Know How Awesome EVPL Is

I've always been a fan of reading, but over the last year, I've really amped up how much I'm reading.  There is nothing like curling up in bed with a good book when you settle in for the night, and it's become part of my nightly routine. Since I've been reading a lot more recently, I was spending a ton of money on books, then I got a Kindle and was spending way too much money on digital books as well.  So I decided to get a library card, and I was shocked when I realized just how much our local library system has to offer.

For instance, did you know you can borrow digital books for your Kindle through the Evansville-Vanderburgh Public Library?  I had NO idea! You can also borrow audiobooks, and I love a good audiobook. So I went and got my library card, checked out a book, and quickly downloaded the Libby app, and it opened a whole new world to me.  I felt so ashamed that I didn't know this sooner! But now that I know, I HAD to share this with you!

More Free Things You May Not Know EVPL Offers

Along with books and other media, did you know the EVPL also has a "Library of Things?"  The Library of Things is just what it sounds like, a place where you can borrow "things"  like cake pans, themed cake pans, instruments, craft supplies, tools, gardening equipment, games, and much more. I mean come ON what else can you ask for from the library?

EVPL is truly an incredible resource in the community.

LOOK: Things from the year you were born that don't exist anymore

The iconic (and at times silly) toys, technologies, and electronics have been usurped since their grand entrance, either by advances in technology or breakthroughs in common sense. See how many things on this list trigger childhood memories—and which ones were here and gone so fast you missed them entirely.
