New Shopping Experience Coming Soon to Evansville's Eastland Mall

As I was doing my regular visit to Eastland Mall to check for new Funkos and collectibles, I noticed a new store in the works.

Eastland Mall is Growing

Recently, a new store opened in Eastland Mall that features name-brand shoes and sportswear. JD Sports is one of the newest shops in Eastland Mall. Sandwiched between JD Sports and Hot Topic I noticed some brand new signage for a store that I have never heard of.

MINISO Coming Soon!

MINISO offers some really unique lifestyle items, and sometimes they are paired with popular brands like Disney, Coke, and Marvel.

According to their website, MINISO is all about affordable, joy, lighthearted, and fun.

MINISO is based on three core principles. Affordable high quality: guides our decisions from design to materials. Joy: the response our customers experience while in our stores. Lighthearted: the relaxed and happy feeling when encountering the large variety of goods available. MINISO has collaborated with world-famous brands including Coca Cola, Marvel, Hello Kitty, Sesame Street, Mickey and Minnie, Pink Panther, We Bare Bears and Beijing’s Palace Museum, releasing playful crossover products that have been hugely popular with our young shoppers.

In October of 2023, MINISO opened its first Indiana store inside Castleton Square Mall in Indianapolis. The Eastland Mall location will be the second one in Indiana. We don't have an estimated date for a grand opening yet, but the signage says that they are hiring.

Then and Now - See Inside Evansville, Indiana's Eastland Mall

Eastland Mall opened in 1981, and it has changed a lot through the years. JC. Penny still anchors the mall on one end, and what was Lazarus Department Store is now Macy's.

Then & Now - Evansville's Washington Square Mall Through the Years

Evansville is home to a lot of unique buildings including the first enclosed retail shopping center in Indiana. Yes, our very own Washington Square Mall was the place to be when it opened in 1963. If you walk through the mall today, you would never guess how alive the shops were, even through the 1980s. Enjoy this walk down memory lane I've put together, and maybe someday there will be new life inside 5011 Washington Ave.

Simply Savvy Photography recreated everyone's favorite 90's mall memories in a retro photoshoot featuring Tay and Ashlyn. They brought the fun back to present-day Washington Square Mall.
