The Evansville Icemen will be home this Sunday at the Ford Center to take on the Bloomington Blaze at 7:15. The Icemen are having a great year and enjoying their first season in the Ford Center. This Sunday night will be a great opportunity not only for Icemen fans, but hockey fans in general as one of the most coveted trophies in all of sports, The Stanley Cup will be displayed at the Ford Center and available for photo opportunities.

The Stanley Cup was donated in 1892 by then Governor General of Canada, the Lord Stanley of Preston, as an award for Canada's top-ranking amateur ice hockey club. It was given for the first time in 1893.

The cup is unique in that a new one is not made every year. The cup goes to the league champion and they keep it until a new winner is crowned...it is one of the few remaining traveling trophies and it currently resides with the Boston Bruins.
