Evansville Icemen Introduce New Head Coach
The Icemen announced earlier today (Thursday, June 5th) that Dwight Mullins will take over the team after the departure of coach Jeff Pyle at the end of the 2013-2014 season.
Icemen fans should recognize Mullins name as the 47-year-old spent the past two seasons coaching ECHL Eastern Conference rivals, the Elmira Jackals where he amassed a record of 64-65-15. In their nine meetings over the past two seasons, the Jackals have beaten the Icemen in seven of those games.
Before moving to the head of the bench, Mullins was a player, being drafted by the Minnesota North Stars in the 5th round of the 1985 NHL Entry Draft. He also spent time as the captain of the Fort Worth Fire of the Central Hockey League winning that league's Championship in 1997.
Thursday's announcement comes on the heels of the Icemen revealing their entire 2014-2015 schedule.
