Remember These Coney Dogs? Indiana is Getting a Second Dog N Suds Location
If you miss Dog N Suds' signature root beer and coney dogs, good news, a second location is opening in the Hoosier State.
Dog N Suds
Do you remember when Evansville had a Dog N Suds? I could be wrong because I was a kid when Dog N Suds was here, but I believe it was located on Evansville's east side on Burkhart where Culvers now sits. I remember their signature items were delicious coney dogs and root beer. The chain had a sense of nostalgia with it being a drive-up style restaurant, and I remember it feeling like it was right out of the 1950s, which makes sense because that's when it started.
You know the phrase, "if it's not broken, don't fix it?" I feel like that is the perfect phrase to describe Dog N Suds. The chain started in 1951 in Champaign, Illinois with humble beginnings as a hot dog and root beer stand. The stand quickly gained popularity (because who doesn't love a hot dog and root beer?) and eventually became a wildly successful fast-food franchise.
Over the years Dog N Suds saw its popularity dwindle, and Evansville's location has now been closed for decades. Dog N Suds now distributes their famous root beer all across the nation, but to actually dine at a Dog N Suds location, you're going to have to travel. Good news for Hoosiers though, there are about to be two locations in Indiana, so you can still get your hands on a Dog N Suds classic coney!
Indiana's Second Dog N Suds Will Soon Open
Until recently there was only one Dog N Suds location left in Indiana. That location is in Lafayette, but due to popular demand, Lafayette is about to open a second Dog N Suds location! Dog N Suds still has the very retro look and vintage charm, and of course the signature coney sauce and creamy root beer.
The second Dog N Suds location is set to open in just a few days, and on February 17th they posted:
Dog n Suds has been a tradition for many years here in Tippecanoe County. We are lucky to have not only one, but two locations in Greater Lafayette. With just 7 days out from opening day, we will be serving our community for our 69th year! What is your favorite Dog n Suds memory?
