DNR Durable License Art & Photo Contest Nets Over 400 Entries
New durable hunting, trapping, and fishing license options are coming to Indiana in 2025 and will feature artwork submitted by Hoosiers.

As a longtime fisherman in Indiana, I couldn't be more excited about the new license option coming to the Hoosier State in 2025. In the past, I would typically print my license on cheap copy paper and stuff it inside my wallet. Not only would my wallet become a bit bulkier, but the paper would also suffer enough wear and tear throughout the season to become barely recognizable by the end, especially if it was dropped in the water (which I've done a time or two). To say I'm excited about this change would be an understatement.
What are 'Durable License Cards?'
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) previously announced that the new form of Indiana hunting, trapping, fishing, or combo license would be available starting in early 2025. Next year, Hoosiers will have the option to purchase their license printed on a durable card designed to withstand harsh outdoor conditions. DNR noted that this has been a highly requested product for years, and I, for one, look forward to seeing it come to fruition.

In addition to unveiling the new license option, DNR also invited the public to submit their best photos and artwork for use on the new cards. The deadline for submissions was August 2, 2024. DNR now reports that they have received close to 450 entries and are currently reviewing them to determine the best pieces.
"Thank you to the artists and photographers who shared their talent and passion with us. We're honored, and the photos/artworks have brought so much joy to our staff. We're excited to share them with you all," DNR posted on social media.
The final selected works will be announced during the first week of October. The chosen pieces will then be featured as background artwork for the new optional durable license cards and even e-gift certificates in 2025. You can find the latest updates on the DNR Facebook page HERE.
