A sure sign that Spring is almost here is Daylight Saving Time, which officially begins at 2am this Sunday, March 8th. So, set your clocks ahead one hour before going to bed Saturday night. It's spring forward time baby!!The concept of DST was first conceived by Benjamin Franklin in 1784 while he was an American envoy to France. It is believed  that modern DST was first proposed by George Vernon Hudson, an entomologist from New Zealand who, because of his love of collecting insects and his value of sunlight, he presented a paper proposing a two-hour daylight-saving shift.

Indiana has seen the most controversy over DST mainly because the state's two western corners, which fall in the Central Time Zone, observed DST, while the remainder of the state, in the Eastern Time Zone, followed year-round standard time. Further complicating the issue for Indiana is the fact that the five southwestern counties near Cincinnati and Louisville unofficially observed DST to keep in sync with those cities.

As confusing as it can be for Indiana, it's here to stay and it starts this weekend so, enjoy the extra light.
