Did you know Indiana is home to a creepy old sanatorium?  It is and you can stay the night there while investigating the paranormal.

The Indiana State Sanatorium

Located in Rockville, Indiana sits the old Indiana State Sanatorium. The property has several buildings waiting to be explored. According to the Indiana State University Library, the Indiana State Sanatorium was once called the Indiana State Tuberculosis Hospital and was opened in 1907.  The Sanatorium had great success with curing tuberculosis and in 1919 the name was changed to the Indiana State Sanatorium.  The old building was abandoned in 2011 but then purchased in 2020 where the new owner sets up tours and overnight stays (IndyStar).

As with any old abandoned property, there are many rumors that the old Indiana State Sanatorium is haunted.  If you want to find out for yourself, you can visit the property yourself (see all tour options here), or if you're interested in tempting fate, you can take part in an overnight paranormal investigation.

The Doctor (or is it Something Else?) is Waiting...

With the medical history of this location, it's no surprise that many of the surrounding legends are of people who used to work at the sanatorium and patients who once lived on these grounds.  Who knows, maybe there's the ghost of a doctor just waiting for you to uncover their story!  Either way, there are paranormal investigations often booked at the old sanatorium, and this one is open for the public to attend.

The event is hosted by The Haunted Raven, and on April 12th from 7:30 PM to 5:00 AM you can join them on a paranormal investigation. They say the event is great for seasoned ghost hunters or newcomers, so whatever your ghost-hunting skills are, you will fit right in.

During the investigation, you will have access to paranormal equipment like EMF detectors, spirit boxes, and digital voice recorders to take your paranormal investigating up a notch.
