Evansville Brewery Closing Downtown Location, but a New Establishment Will Replace it
When one door closes, another door opens. And it's nice to know this local brewery is still going to be around at their Newburgh location.
Myriad Brewing Company
Back in 2018 Evansville was all abuzz about a new brewery heading to downtown Evansville. Myriad Brewing Company opened its doors on the ground level of the historic McCurdy Building (now home to the McCurdy Apartments). After years of brewing delicious beers, Myriad opened a second taproom in Newburgh.
Myriad Announces Downtown Location Closure
Myriad took to Facebook to share a post from owner Jason Elliot, he and his wife Jamie are the owners are Myriad. Since the opening of the brewery Jason and Jamie have had many life changes like welcoming twin girls into their lives. Of course, being a parent changes you, priorities change, and Jason explains that what was once a dream of Jason and Jamie's has changed into a dream of being able to own and operate a business, while also getting to make memories and spend time with their kids. Something all parents can relate to.
His post goes on to say that while the downtown Evansville location of Myriad Brewing Company will be closing, the Newburgh taproom will stay open and Myriad beers aren't going anywhere, as Damsels is taking up the charge of brewing their popular recipes.
When One Door Closes Another Opens
While it's always a bummer to hear of a local business closing, we certainly can understand the circumstances surrounding Myriad downsizing the business so they can have more time for family. But the good news is, the downtown taproom won't stay empty long as a new business is already set to move in!
The coolest part? Ally, one of our long-time bartenders, is taking over the space with her fiance Zane. In early October, they will be opening “The Industry Bar" at our Downtown Evansville location. Next time you stop by Myriad Downtown, be sure to ask Ally about her plans! She and Zane are so excited to show you what they've been working on behind the scenes.
How exciting for this new business endeavor! You can read Jason's full heartfelt post about the downtown Evansville location closing here, and it is embedded below. I can't wait to watch Myriad and The Industry Bar both thrive!
