Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga are teaming for a new reboot of the classic movie A Star Is Born, and they blend their voices beautifully in a new trailer advertising the upcoming film.

Cooper is both starring in and making his directorial debut for the new film, which is a remake of the 1976 musical that paired Kris Kristofferson and Barbra Streisand. In the trailer above, he cops a strong Kristofferson vibe as a troubled, fading rock singer who falls in love with a struggling female singer and helps her in her rise to success. Lady Gaga is taking on her first role as a leading lady in A Star Is Born.

The new film has more than a passing relationship with country music. Lukas Nelson has written songs for the film, and he and his band, Promise of the Real, appear in the film as Cooper and Gaga's backing band. Jason Isbell and Dave Cobb also contributed songs to the film, and Cooper and Gaga actually sang the songs live as they were filming, instead of lip-syncing to pre-recorded studio tracks, which she told him she hates.

"She's right!" he tells Vulture. "[Singing live] was terrifying, and I really relied on her. I spent about a year and a half taking vocal lessons and preparing."

Sam Elliott, Andrew Dice Clay and Dave Chappelle are also part of the cast of A Star Is Born, which is set for release on Oct. 5.
