New Store Alert: BJ’s Wholesale Club Opens First Kentucky Location
BJ’s Wholesale Club is set to open its 250th location in Louisville, Kentucky, marking the retailer’s first store in the Bluegrass State.
In an era filled with more and more restaurant or store closings, it's great to celebrate grand openings when they happen. BJ’s Wholesale Club is the latest retailer to plant a new flag in Kentucky, and it's one I would imagine many folks will be excited about. That said, the chain will have some competition, as Louisville is already home to similar brands, like Sam's Club and Costco.
What is BJ’s Wholesale Club?
Like the aforementioned wholesale clubs, BJ’s sells a variety of items in bulk. They sell everything from groceries to toys, furniture, and electronics. However, their basic membership comes with a price tag of just $60 per year, which is about $5 cheaper than Costco, but still more expensive than Sam's Club. BJ’s Wholesale Club is based in Marlborough, Massachusetts, and operates primarily on the East Coast, but they’ve been expanding in recent years.

BJ’s Wholesale Club Opens in Louisville
According to a press release from the company, a new BJ’s Wholesale Club will open on Jan. 31 in Louisville. It will be located at 4807 Outer Loop, near the Jefferson Mall, and will include an on-site BJ’s Gas location where members can fill up their gas tanks. Additionally, the chain will partner with the Louisville community's Dare to Care Food Bank by donating unsold produce, meat, dairy, and more every week.
“We’re excited to collaborate with BJ’s Wholesale Club as a new community partner in Louisville,” said Vincent James, president and CEO of Dare to Care Food Bank. “This partnership will help deepen our mission of providing pathways to end hunger in our community.”
Shopping at BJ’s Wholesale Club
Curbside pick-up, in-club pick-up, same-day delivery, and standard delivery options will be available for customers utilizing the retailer’s website. Additionally, members shopping in-club have the option to use "ExpressPay" through the BJ’s mobile app. With this, you can just scan the products you want to buy as you shop and pay at the end, completely skipping a long checkout line. The mega store will be open from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday (CST).
