I lived in the southern part of Kentucky for a little over a year in the northern rural portion of Todd County. During my time there, I became very familiar with the surrounding area, especially the local food scene. There was one restaurant not far from my house that I always wanted to try but never did. Now, I highly regret it because, according to Yelp, it's the best sandwich shop in the entire Bluegrass State.

Along Fort Campbell Boulevard, you'll find Kentucky's best-kept sandwich secret nestled among other local businesses, all adjacent to a Marathon gas station. It's an easy building to miss, but one that is apparently worth your attention.

The restaurant that can now boast it's the most popular sandwich shop in Kentucky is none other than JP's Hot Chicken. Their top menu item is the JP's Chicken Sandwich, which is served with two sides and a drink. It's a classic fried chicken sandwich that you can get with one of their signature hot sauces, each varying in terms of heat. Their scale ranges from "Southern" (no heat) to "True Heat," which requires you to sign a waiver.
