After analyzing the 150 most popular metropolitan areas across the United States, US News & World Report has named the best place to live in Indiana for 2023.

Statistics and Methodology

Utilizing statistics from a number of sources, including the U.S. Census Bureau, the FBI, and the U.S. Department of Labor, US News & World Report analyzed data like crime rates, quality of education, and quality and availability of health care, as well as other analytical data like the Air Quality Index from the Environmental Protection Agency and FEMA's National Risk Index.

Coming in at #33 on the list of Best Places to Live in the US in 2023-2024, and also the highest ranking Indiana city on the list is Fort Wayne.

Fort Wayne Home Prices Nearly Half of the National Average

US News points out that the cost of living in Fort Wayne is significantly lower than the national average. The national average cost to purchase a home in the United States in 2021 was $365,616 but in Fort Wayne, it was nearly half the national average at just $182,512.
