Every Christmas season I end up arguing with someone over whether or not a movie we've watched is a Christmas themed movie or if it's just a regular movie that takes place at Christmas time. Now many, many people have different versions of what Christmas movies are. For example, How The Grinch Stole Christmas is definitely a Christmas movie because the entire movie and plot revolve around Christmas. The same could be said about movies such as National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Elf, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

However, other movies such as Die Hard fall into this gray area of Christmas flicks. Is it branded a Christmas movie or does it just take place at Christmas time? Many people would say it is a Christmas movie. I would say that it is not.

Movies like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman Returns, and Lethal Weapon are common movies brought into the debate of 'Is it or isn't it a Christmas film?' While they all do take place at Christmas time, but are they REALLY considered Christmas movies?

What do YOU think? Comment below or share this article to let us know! Personally, I think to be considered a Christmas movie the plot of the movie has to revolve around Christmas or it's NOT a Christmas movie!
