A three-day celebration commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Sony motion picture “A League of Their Own” is set for June 15 – 17, 2017, in Huntingburg, Indiana. Huntingburg’s League Stadium, now home to the Dubois County Bombers collegiate baseball team, served as the filming location for the 1992 movie. Actors Bitty Schram (“Evelyn Gardner”), Justin Scheller (“Stilwell Gardner”), and Ryan Olsen (“Dollbaby Kid”) will participate in the weekend festivities.

A big-screen showing of the film kicks off the celebration at The Gaslight on Thursday, June 15, at 7:00 pm ET. All ages are invited to attend this free event.

On Friday, June 16, a Salute to “A League of Their Own” 1940s Cocktail Event takes place at the Huntingburg Event Center. Festivities include guest speakers, food and drinks, the premiere of a nine-inning documentary spotlighting the making of the film, and more. Tickets cost $40.00 each and are available for purchase online at TicketLeap.com. Sponsored tables are also available through the Huntingburg Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the League Stadium Endowment through the Dubois County Foundation to preserve the historic landmark.

The celebration continues Saturday, June 17, in conjunction with the Dubois County Bombers game at League Stadium.  Gates will open early with kid’s games and activities hosted by Bombers and Peaches.  A long-awaited Peaches vs. Belles rematch will take place prior to the Bombers taking on the Hoptown Hoppers.  Tickets to the game are available by calling the Bombers office at (812)683-3700.

Actress Bitty Schram, who played Evelyn Gardner in the film, will make special guest appearances at both Friday and Saturday’s events.  Her iconic scene with Tom Hanks, “There’s no crying in baseball!” was filmed at Huntingburg League Stadium. Schram will share her experience filming the movie, meet with fans, and be involved with Bombers activities. The appearance also reunites Schram with her on-screen son, Stilwell Gardner, played by Justin Scheller, who will attend both events.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released “A League of Their Own” on Blu-ray and Digital HD for the first time on April 18, 2017. The 25th-anniversary edition includes 15 deleted scenes, filmmaker commentary, actor interviews, and more.
