7 Sisters will offer their first support group meeting for friends and family affected by addiction on Monday, May 20. The support group has been a vision of 7 Sisters shortly after their Facebook page was created as followers requested and voiced the need for such a group.

The free monthly support group will be led by Lisa Seif, who has been in the prevention, intervention and treatment field since 1993. Seif stated, “I’m excited and proud to help launch this much needed discussion and support for families needing to hear and know they are not alone in the struggle to make sense of an illness that will never make sense.”

With decades of experience, Seif agrees there can’t be enough education, support and treatment for those affected by a loved one or friend suffering in the darkness of addiction. “This is a health related illness and it deserves the attention and dignity of any illness. The family gets wounded by watching and often fighting harder than the one with the illness!” Seif continues, “Medicine offers a medical solution. Theology offers a spiritual solution. Hands down support groups offer a light of hope and identification and that is the best therapy ever offered.”

Seif encourages those affected by the illness to never give up and stay connected. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Certified Addiction Counselor, Court Substance Abuse Specialist, an Adjunct Professor at USI and a private psychotherapist.
