This week's Pet of the Week from the Vanderburgh Humane Society is a special boy with a name that fits perfectly if you're a fan of Marvel Comics and/or the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Meet Bucky Barnes

Hello there! I’m Bucky Barnes, a five-year-old tripod looking for my forever home! I came into VHS as an outdoor cat with an injury that resulted in my leg being amputated, but I do not let it slow me down! I am playful and rambunctious, but also love to lounge. Matter of fact, my two favorite places to snooze are my comfy cat bed and a human’s lap! I am very affectionate but like to make the rules when it comes to scratches and pets. I’ve lived a rough life as a stray and am ready for the luxurious life of an indoor kitty and someone to give me time to adjust. If you’ll be my pal, I’ll be with you ‘til the end of the line.

The Marvel Connection

Bucky may just have my favorite name ever for a VHS pet. If you don't get the reference, I'll give you the Cliff Notes version. In the comics and the movies, Bucky Barnes is the best friend of Steve Rogers who eventually becomes Captain America. It is believed that Bucky dies during a mission, but is later discovered to have been captured by the Russians who brainwash him and turn him into a killing machine known as The Winter Soldier. Oh, they also amputate one of his arms and replace it with a bionic one. He eventually becomes a good guy and joins The Avengers. It makes sense now, right?

Anyway, this Bucky's adoption fee is $80. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to "assemble" with you! (See what we did there?)

If you're interested in Bucky or any of the other animals up for adoption at the Vanderburgh Humane Society, get a jump on the adoption process by filling out some of the paperwork in advance on the VHS website.

TRI-STATE ADOPTABLE PETS THAT LOOK LIKE COUNTRY STARS

From Morgan Wallen to Chris Stapleton to Dolly, Reba, and more, we found 16 dogs (and one cat just to be fair) on Petfinder we think, at the very least, share a few similar features with several of your favorite Country Music artists. What do you think? Keep scrolling to judge for yourself and whether or not you agree or disagree, keep in mind that all the animals you see are looking for their forever family (or is it "fur-ever" family?) at one of the animal shelters right here in the Tri-State. We even included links in the description of each one that will take you right where you need to go to find out how you can adopt them if you see one you feel like you can't live without.
