O'Charley's on Evansville's east side is hosting a summer-long series featuring several up-and-coming acts and we have your chance to be a VIP at this week's event.
O'Charley's Summer Songwriter's Cafe
The Summer Songwriter's Cafe was started by O'Charley's back in 2020 as a virtual series since everyone was stuck at home and couldn't go anywhere thanks to the pandemic, and featured artists such as Lee Brice, Tenille Arts, and others. The series has continued post-pandemic at locations around the country and gives the previously mentioned up-and-coming singer/songwriters a chance to perform.
This week's show will be held on Thursday, August 17th, and will feature singer-songwriter, Karissa Ella. The Ohio native has been making waves in the world of country music over the past couple of years. According to her website:
In 2021, she put out <a href="https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7IWs5NeEpwI_8evgr0BhlsiVjNRFO9yH" target="_blank">The Acoustic Sessions</a> – an EP of four classic country song covers – as well as the original singles <a href="https://youtu.be/qjAKsv7wCf8" target="_blank">“Bad Summer”</a> and <a href="https://orcd.co/crackin" target="_blank">“Crackin’ Cold Ones”</a> and rounded out the year on the road with GRAMMY-nominated country star David Nail on his Bootheel 2021 Tour. Ella had another prolific year in 2022, marked by the release of several singles – including “<a href="https://song.space/2kjjwu" target="_blank">Hometown Bar</a>” featured on <a href="https://people.com/country/karissa-ella-joins-family-and-friends-in-hometown-bar-music-video/" target="_blank">PEOPLE.com</a> and “<a href="https://orcd.co/whiskeywhispersyourname" target="_blank">Whiskey Whispers Your Name</a>” featured on <a href="https://www.soundslikenashville.com/music/karissa-ella-is-haunted-by-an-ex-on-whiskey-whispers-your-name/" target="_blank">Sounds Like Nashville</a> – as well as a special performance of <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPoadY1Tbrs&feature=youtu.be" target="_blank">"He Walked on Water"</a> for Randy Travis himself at the Country Rebel Ranch. Ella’s third EP will be released in the Summer 2023.
Not a bad resume so far, if you ask me. Plus she's from Ohio, so she has me hooked by that alone (O-H!). Not to mention the fact that she has a sound that is very reminiscent of the music that I grew up listening to.
