Vanderburgh County Sheriff Advises to Avoid Travel After Storms

There's nothing like waking up to thunderstorms and tornado warnings. Wow, it has been a very chaotic morning. Thousands of residents are dealing with power outages and extensive damage today.

Public Safety Message:

Officers are currently blocking roads that have downed power lines and trees.

Due to severe storm-related damage, traffic issues are currently impacting roadways and utilities across Vanderburgh County. The Vanderburgh County Commissioners, Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office, and Evansville / Vanderburgh County Emergency Management Agency advise all residents to avoid unnecessary travel and stay off the roads until further notice.

Your safety is our utmost concern, and reducing traffic will aid the efforts of our local utilities and highway department in addressing the damage effectively.
