Blake Shelton and ‘The Voice’ Judges Show Olympics-Worthy Skills in Season 3 Commercial
At first glance, the new commercial for Season 3 of ‘The Voice‘ looks just about the same as the ads for season 2. But this time — and just in time — judges Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine get to show off their Olympics-worthy abilities in a race to meet up with a surprise new guest.
In the promo, Aguilera takes off for a staircase in a hotel lobby when she hears an operatic voice singing upstairs. Armed with a rope and some good old-fashioned country boy skills, Shelton wrangles the pop star away from the stairs with a lasso, hoping to beat her. But before Shelton can figure out whose incredible singing voice he hears, he gets into a fistfight with Levine, who sends him flying. As Levine runs up the stairs, he is karate chopped by Cee Lo Green.
Eventually, all four ‘The Voice’ judges find their way up to the hotel room to find out who is singing with such incredible talent. They bust through the walls to find none other than… Bruce Jenner. Yes, Bruce Jenner — former Olympic medalist and current reality star on ‘Keeping up With the Kardashians’ — walks out of the bathroom in a white robe, wearing a gold medal from the 1976 Montreal games around his neck.
While the clip is hilarious, and very much a joke, fans of ‘The Voice’ would probably turn out in droves to watch the series’ third installment regardless of whether or not Jenner will be competing (he’s not).
‘The Voice’ took music and reality TV lovers alike by storm after last year’s debut, earning four Emmy nominations in the categories of Outstanding Art Direction for Variety or Nonfiction Programming, Outstanding Hairstyling for a Multi-Camera Series or Special, Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media Enhancement to a Television Program or Series and Best Competition Reality Show.
Whether ‘The Voice’ wins any awards or not, September will be a big month for the primetime reality show, as it prepares to unveil Season 3. Tune into ‘The Voice’ Season 3 kickoff on September 10 at 8PM ET on NBC.
