An Incredibly Unique Experience

Over the weekend, my husband and I had tickets to see Kurt Vile in concert (if you get the chance, check out his tunes, he's great).  The concert was at a venue we'd never been to before called The Caverns.  After checking out the venue online and then getting to see it in person, it's hands down the most unique place I've ever seen a concert.  What's so cool is you're inside of a cave and seeing a show, and the backdrop for the stage is all lit up in different colors.

The Caverns

Located in Grundy County, Tennessee sits a music venue that's hidden from plain sight.  After taking winding backroads throughout the Tennessee countryside, you eventually come to The Caverns.

After parking, you'll walk down a gravel path to a big open-mouth cave, when you step inside the cave you're taken into an underground music venue. Which has been referred to as "the Greatest Show Under Earth."

The Caverns’ large, connected underground cave system covers over 8,000 linear feet of known surreal cave passages. Underground shows are hosted in a section of The Caverns historically known to locals and cavers as the Big Mouth Cave because of its impressive, large archway entrance. Experts believe humans have been using the cave to escape the heat, take refuge from rain, and enjoy each other's company for up to 25,000 years.

You can see The Cavern's full lineup of shows on their website, you can also book a tour.  My husband and I went to the concert on Sunday night and then went back to The Caverns on Monday morning to take a tour.

I highly recommend taking a tour if you plan on checking out The Caverns.  It was really cool because not only do you get to tour another cave on the property, but you also get to see The Caverns' music venue during the day, and it's really cool to see what the venue looks like with no people in it.
