One of the best kept secrets in Evansville might very well be the work being done at Outreach Ministries since 1964. Their mission is to provide help for working poor families in crisis. Since their inception, Outreach Ministries has helped families pay their rent, utility bills, groceries, medical appointments and even provide public transportation tokens to get people to work or school.

In 2014 alone, the organization helped almost 10,536 people in more than 3,369 households. Unfortunately, many who find themselves in a situation where they need help and don't know where to turn and are unaware that help is available.

It obviously takes a lot of money to keep an organization such as this operating and functioning the way it is supposed to. The only way they can keep helping is through donations and the many fundraisers they host during the year.

One of the biggest and most popular is the 'Cheesecake for Charity ' fundraiser, which allows people to sample some of the best cheesecake in the area, enjoy hors d' oeuvres, a cash wine bar and live music. This year's event is happening April 24 from 7-9:30pm in the Downtown Evansville Vectren building.

Tickets are $25 per person or $40 per couple and you can get your tickets here. The best part is that every dollar raised, stays right here in the Evansville area. We all need help from time to time and it is so reassuring to know that help is waiting if needed.
