Old Chicago Memories

Just off the Lloyd Expressway near Burkhart sits a building that is now the current IHOP location.  Before it was IHOP though, it was Old Chicago.  I don't know what it is about Old Chicago, but that restaurant held a lot of memories for my friends and me. I think it's because when we were in college and would want to grab a late-night meal,  Old Chicago was one of the few sit-down places open late. We also frequented the trivia nights and enjoyed the mini beer tours so we spent a lot of time there.    Unfortunately, Old Chicago in Evansville shut its doors in 2020.

A Short Drive from Evansville

Did you know there's still an Old Chicago location in Vincennes? My husband and I have been joking around ever since the Evansville location closed that we were going to take a trip to Vincennes to enjoy some pizza and buffalo chicken rolls.  Since we were both off on Labor Day my husband had the idea to take a day date on up to Vincennes.  Let me tell you, it was WORTH the one-hour drive from Evansville.

First of all, I don't know what I was expecting, but it's literally an Old Chicago.

We started with an appetizer of buffalo chicken rolls because those are my all-time favorite.  In fact, kind of a funny story, When I was pregnant with my son the one major craving I had was for Old Chicago buffalo chicken rolls.  Unfortunately for me, I was pregnant in 2021 so we no longer had an Old Chicago here.  When we ordered the buffalo chicken rolls appetizer on Monday, it felt like the buffalo chicken roll redemption and all was right in the world again.

Of course, you can't go to Old Chicago without getting a Double Deckeroni, something about hot sauce, pizza sauce, and pepperoni just makes for the perfect combination.

When I posted photos of our day date adventure on Monday, it was funny how many of my friends reached out asking me if the Vincennes Old Chicago was exactly like the Evansville one because they wanted to make the drive up too, and I can confirm, that it was.  So if you need to get your Old Chicago fix, you can in Vincennes!
